Thank you to our existing business leasing customer, from Billericay (Essex), for sending through pictures of their new car – the E-Class convertible!
Football, and summer, may seem to be over but appetites for a “drop-top” vehicle have been surprisingly steady over the last couple of months. With the UK enjoying some of the best weather we have experienced in many years, some customers have been enthused to purchase or lease a summer-eque vehicle.
With Mercedes producing some fantastic convertible options with the SLC, C-class cabrio, E-class cabrio and S-class cabrio, they have no doubt been enjoying more enquiries for this product.
Do seasons affect the cars people choose to buy or lease? In some cases, without a doubt this happens. Where we have poor winters or very hot summers, the type of vehicles people look for does change. With a series of poor winters 4wd SUVs have never been more popular! That being said making an intelligent decision for your next car is paramount and you should base your car decision on practical factors for example fuel efficiency, suitability of fuel, size of car and transmission choice. If you decide to go for a 4wd drive vehicle, you have to consider that the fuel efficiency will be much lower than a 2WD option and you are likely to take a diesel car (which may not be suitable for lower mileage users).
For our financial products, contract hire and leasing, all of the contracts are fixed for a predetermined amount of time i.e. 2, 3 or 4 years. This means that if you can’t make an intelligent car leasing decision, you could unfortunately end up in a vehicle which is not suitable for your needs and requirements. Leasing is not a flexible product, in that you cannot simply return the car.
What do I do to end my lease early? You need to liaise with your credit broker, or finance company, to ask for an “early termination”. Based on your current mileage, the leasing company will ascertain what it would cost for you to return the vehicle before the contact end date. This is often a figure equivalent to half of the remaining rentals. Bear in mind two other crucial points: 1) the car is still inspected at collection (consider fair wear and tear); 2) the mileage the vehicle has will be calculated on a pro rata basis (if you go beyond your mileage limit you will be charged excess mileage).
Do not get confused between the rules for contract hire and the rules for PCP.
Based on the above, you need to ensure you compare the various finance companies available to you and the different contracts/finance products. As we consistently say, the monthly price is not the most important facet. If a car is cheap per month, this will be irrelevant if the contract is not suitable for your needs and requirements.

On the technical-side, company car and business users can noted the P11d at £46,530.00 and CO2 at 181g/km. The 1991CC 9 speed auto petrol engine delivers 35.8 combined MPG, 245ps and 0-62 time of 6.6 seconds. Service intervals on the petrol e-class are every 12 months or 15,500 miles, whichever lands sooner. Do consider a driver-maintained vs funder-maintained contract.
So would you select the e-class for your next car leasing option? Or would you “intelligently” select another option like the BMW 4 series convertible or Audi A5 cabriolet or perhaps a Range Rover Evoque Cabrio is more your thing?
