Audi A3 Car Leasing Deals
Happy new car day to this Camden-based personal leasing customer. And a big thank you to Andrew Lacey, at Worcester Audi , for helping our team to deliver a first-class experience to this young car leasing customer.
Can anyone lease an Audi?
Is there an age limit for leasing a car? One of the first questions we are asked by our younger customers is whether or not there is an age limit on being able to lease a brand new car. As a credit based product, all of our customers must be aged 18 or over to lease a car with one of our selected finance companies (to be clear we are a credit broker and not a finance company).
What this means is that we don’t make a decision on your ability to proceed with the new car; we procure the information from you in the form of a proposal form/finance proposal form, and forward these details to the relevant finance company. We will ask for information relating to:
- Full name;
- Date of birth;
- Email address
- Telephone Numbers;
- Marital Status;
- Home address (5-year address history);
- Employment history (3-year address history); and
- Income and Expenditure.
What the finance company are looking at is your ability to pay and your propensity to pay. So as long as I earn enough income I can lease a car? Absolutely not. The ability to pay involves the finance company looking at your income and measuring this against your normal expenditure which will include rent/mortgage, food/drink/clothing, fuel and travel costs, childcare costs and any other normal payments you make.
This is about ensuring that after your normal expenditure, you have a sufficient amount of income remaining to pay for the car, the servicing/maintenance and all of other associated costs. If you have a marginal amount of money remaining after the expenditure has been deducted, this will raise concerns with us and the finance company, as it may not be treating you fairly by allowing you to lease a car.
What happens if you have unexpected costs and you have insufficient financial provisions to pay for your new car? We would therefore recommend that if you have £300 per month to spend on a car, looking at cars around £500-600 is impractical as you will not be accepted. This is about being sensible and financially prudent.
Additionally, just because you have sufficient income doesn’t mean that you will be accepted on a lease car. The finance companies will also look at your credit history to understand what your historical record is with other finance products. If you have been unable to satisfy previous car finance, mortgage or phone payments these will be recorded on your file.
But how do I check my finance? Just log into Experian and see what your credit score is and what has been recorded against your profile. Is there a “score” on Experian which I need to get to? While scoring 850 and above (it is out of 999) is a positive indicator, this is not the ONLY element which finance companies will review. What we would say is that if you score below 600, the likelihood of a prime finance company accepting on credit is unlikely and you would be better served investing your time and efforts into improving your credit score as opposed to leasing a new car.
And, to be clear, leasing a car is NOT a solution for those customers with bad credit. This is very much a finance product for those customers with a strong credit history. Unfortunately, we cannot assist customers in this situation.
