Thank you to our existing (and very long-standing) personal contract hire customer from Wigan (Greater Manchester) for visiting the CarLease UK team to collect a new car for their daughter – the Vauxhall Corsa.
Organising a car for a young driver can be a confusing process and it is important you understand the facts before you start to look for a car lease.
First and foremost, contract hire is a credit-based product. What this means is that an individual must supply a number of key details about themselves so that we can present these facts to the underwriter at the finance company, who will make a decision based on this information/Experian reports/other information. You will therefore be asked to supply:
· Name/date of birth/x2 contact numbers/email address/marital status/dependents;
· 5 year address history;
· 3 year employment history;
· Bank details; and
· In-depth income and expenditure.
For a younger person, obtaining credit can sometimes be a difficult a process as they have a limited credit history by sheer virtue of their age. Our advice to these individuals is to start by getting an Experian report, as this will help them understand what many financial institutions will see when they are carrying out a credit check. They need to concentrate on obtaining some credit i.e. mobile phone contract, store card, credit card and then demonstrate an ability to manage this credit responsibly.
As soon as a young person reaches 18, make sure they are added to the electoral register at the current residential address; this is something which is often overlooked.
