Thanks to our car rental partners, Enterprises in Leigh (Manchester) for allowing to photograph their new Ford KUGA DIESEL ESTATE 2.0 TDCi Titanium 5dr 2WD Manual (browse deals) which just arrived!
Like the contract hire industry, the cars for car rental companies can be delivered on a trailer/transporter or they are driven directly to the customer. The car shown here was driven to Enterprise. What this means is that the vehicle is given a pre-delivery inspection (PDI), to ensure that the vehicle is in good working order and has no issues or faults, and then a driver will physically drive it to a residential or business address. This is exactly the same process in our industry, in that the majority of lease cars are driven to customers’ residential addresses or business addresses. Unless requested (or you are lucky), a trailer or transported delivery will not be used without incurring additional costs. If you do want your new vehicle to be transported, let your leasing broker know well before delivery!
The fact that many cars are driven to customers is not an issue; although we understand this is something some customers get concerned with. Firstly, the car should be valeted before it is handed across so that a customer can review the car and ensure there are no scratches or damage on the vehicle. Secondly, the customer should also be given a proper handover of the vehicle so they understand the key features and can be assured that both keys are present (plus the handbook). The customer will then sign a delivery note to show acceptance. If the car is not correct for any reason whatsoever, the customer has a right to reject the goods.
In terms of the Kuga leasing option shown here, it is based on the following configuration:
· Metallic – Magnetic
· 17″ 5×2 spoke alloy wheels
· Cloth/Salerno leather – Charcoal black
The “Magnetic” colour is one of the better options to choose on the Ford Kuga, along with the Deep Impact Blue and Sleek Silver. The white is very much a love or hate colour (plus it has additional costs). The issue with the Shadow Black, is that it can show every scratch and scrape that a vehicle collects. If you are operating a high mileage lease contract, be conscious of the colour, as spending lots of time on roads and motorways = lots of stone chips and damages. While some of the this maybe ok from a fair wear and tear perspective, it is not the most aesthetically pleasing aspect of the car!
The Titanium is a kind of middle spec within the Kuga range, in that you have:
· Zetec;
· Titanium
· ST Line
· Titanium X
· Vignale
By having a Titanium, you get (above a Zetec) SYNC 3, navigation, partial leather, rain sensing wipers, rear parking sensors, keyless entry and an electric parking brake. In addition, the vehicle has the Quickclear screen, hill start assist, floors mats, electric folding and heated door mirrors, twin exhaust pipes, ambient lighting, 17” alloys and sports style seats. For additional factory options, consider the rear view camera, adaptive cruise control and winter pack. Alternately go for the for the Titanium X and get full leather, a panoramic roof, bi-xenon lamps, powered tailgate and upgraded 18” alloys!
On the technical side, the company car driver can observe the P11d of £27,475.00 and CO2 of 122 g/km. The 1997 CC diesel offers 60.1 MPG combined, 150ps and 0-62 times of circa 10 seconds. Servicing-wise, it’s every 12 months or 12,500 miles – maybe a consideration for a funder-maintained package with the shorter servicing obligations? For the more frugal out there, you can go for the 1.5 TDCI, which offers lightly improved CO2 and MPG (115g/km and 65MPG combined) or, for the younger sporty driver, go for the 180ps 2.0 TDCI!
The SUV leasing class is absolutely jam packed with great options. On the value side – Nissan Qashqai, Renault Kadjar, Peugeot 3008, Vauxhall Mokka and on the luxury side – Range Rover Evoque, Mercedes GLC, Audi Q5 and BMW X3 can be counted as competitors!
Which SUV offer would you want to go for? Cheap and Cheerful or Luxury..?
