Thanks to our local Manchester leasing customer for sending pictures of their new 17 plate car, the Land Rover DISCOVERY SPORT DIESEL SW 2.0 TD4 180 HSE Black 5dr Auto (check out the deals.)
The Disco Sport has been a “mixed-feeling” vehicle for the Land Rover/Range Rover brand, which is used to producing 5 star vehicles time after time. Take for example the new Velar which is set to be the latest BMW X6 / Mercedes GLE competitor. The Discovery Sport, which replaced the Freelander, is a 5 and 7 seat option aimed at families and the older driver. In effect, this is an elongated RR Evoque with more subtle design and features. It is definitely not a car aimed at the younger generation!
The Discovery Sport is available in a number of engine profiles and specifications. You can choose between a 150ps manual diesel and a 180ps manual and automatic. Given the size of the car, you do really want to consider paying more for the flagship 180ps option – this offers 53.3MPG, CO2 of 13g/km plus 0-62mph times of 8.4 seconds. With service intervals at every 24 months or 21,000 miles, operational costs are not too severe. In terms of specification, you can elect for an SE, SE Tech, HSE and the HSE Luxury/Black/Dynamic Lux. Again, the SE and SE Tech are somewhat plain and subtle, so if you looking for true luxury finesse, you need to ensure your budget is ready for the HSE and above … leather, parking camera and nice alloys.
The car pictured has a number of great features, including mood lighting, bi-xenon lights, heated front seats, cruise control, 8-way adjustable electric driver seats, rear view camera, heated/folding door mirrors, Audio system with 11 speakers and subwoofer, Black Pack (for the 20” Black Wheel style 511), InControl Navigation and Keyless entry.
In terms of configuration, the customer elected for:
· Firenze Red Metallic Paint;
· Contrast Roof – Santorini; and
· Grained leather – Ebony.
In the luxury leasing market, you have so many options and, in truth the Discovery Sport really has been inconsistent. When you compare some of the other 7-seat SUV options like the Audi Q7, RR Sport 7 Seat, BMW X5 7 Seat and even the new Skoda Kodiaq 7 seat and Mitsubishi Shogun 7 seater, you can see the Discovery Sport really does have a fight on its hands.
