The Mercedes is a great vehicle to consider for high-mileage drivers, particularly when you consider the technical details noted below.
If you are looking at a higher mileage contract, you do need to ensure that the car and the contract you are undertaking is suitable for your needs and requirements.
On the car-side, do make sure you consider the manual vs auto in any car; for drivers covering 15,000 miles or more there is a strong argument that an automatic car would benefit you tremendously. Obviously there are cost considerations within this. Also research the key facets of a car such as combined MPG, standard specification and service intervals which all need be balanced in your thought process.
Where you are covering high mileage, make sure you accurately calculate the driver maintained contract (where you are responsible for all servicing and tyres) vs the funder-maintained contract (cost of all servicing, tyres and maintenance incorporated). Much of this will depend on the service intervals, cost of servicing and the size of tyres.
In terms of standard specification on the Merc, you get tinted glass, rain sensing wipers, hill start assist, brake assist, Bluetooth, active park assist, collision prevention assist, Garmin Map Pilot, electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors, Artico leather, reversing camera, cruise control, LED headlights, Connect Me, climate control, sports seats, storage pack, seat comfort pack, mirror pack and lighting pack. To upgrade the car, either go for the Premium/Premium Plus or make the step to the AMG Line. Other than that, consider some small adjustments with the black ash wood trim and privacy glass which are some subtle (and cost-effective) adjustments.Contract hire is a great tool for providing certainty of cost, so if you can incorporate all elements this reduces the likelihood of any surprising costs.
On the technical-side, the 2143CC 9 speed auto engine delivers 170ps which offers a combined 64.2 MPG and 0-62 times of 7.5 seconds. On the company car side, please note the P11d of £35,610.00 and CO at 112g/km. On the servicing-side, its every 12 months or 15,500 miles, whichever is sooner.
For lower-mileage 2 year contract hire agreements, you may lean towards the driver-maintained contract.
So would you go for the C-Class when you have the BMW 3 Series. Audi A4 and Jaguar XE to consider? Which compact luxury saloon would be your next deal?
