A big thank you our luxury car rental partners, Enterprise car rental in Leigh (near Manchester), for allowing us to photograph one of their latest fleet additions – the Mercedes-Benz C CLASS DIESEL SALOON C220d Sport 4dr 9G-Tronic (auto). If you are looking for short-term car hire i.e. daily or weekly hire, do speak to the team there. If you are a company car driver who is on a probationary period or you are awaiting your next vehicle which is on factory order, do think about using their fantastic team.
With CarLease UK, we can offer long-term contract hire, which is a fixed term of 2 years or more (which we will discuss below). We cannot offer short-term solutions directly.
Contract hire and leasing is not a short-term fix or solution (read more.) We do have some customers who call with a short-term requirement, while they organise the purchase of a new vehicle. Contract hire is very much an alternative to purchasing a car, in that you are committing to a vehicle for a predetermined time of 2, 3 or 4 years. As this is a fixed term agreement, it is not possible to simply return the vehicle should it no long meet your needs and requirements.
To exit a vehicle, you have to conduct what is known as an early termination process, which involves paying an amount (often half the remaining rentals) in order to end the agreement.
So is leasing better than buying a new car? This is not a question that we can answer, as the suitability of the product is very much a question the end user needs to answer. You have to consider the benefits and drawback of contract hire and ascertain if you are happy with this. For example, if you want to purchase a vehicle after 2/3/4 years, contract hire is clearly not for you.
In the alternative, if you do want to change your car every 3 years and you do not want to incur the time commitment in selling/buying vehicles, consider contract hire.
In terms of the luxury saloon shown here, the Mercedes-Benz C220d Sport Auto, this is based on the following configuration:
· Metallic – Cavansite Blue
· Artico leather – Black
· 17″ 5 twin spoke design alloy wheels in Himalaya grey
· Gloss black/aluminium interior trim
While the Sport lacks the aesthetic-styling of the AMG, as standard you get artico leather, LED headlights, 17” alloys, cruise control, reversing camera, green tinted glass, rain sensing wipers, hill start assist, Bluetooth, active park assist, collision prevention assist, Garmin map pilot, electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors, LED lights, climate control, alarm system, storage pack, lighting pack, mirror pack and heated front seats. If you are looking to push your monthly budget, consider the Premium Pack for ambient lighting, keyless go and the panoramic sunroof. For those looking for the complete vehicle, go for the Premium Plus to add Burmester sound system and COMMAND sat nav.
On the technical-side, company car drivers can note the £35,610.00 P11d and CO2 at 112g/km. The 2143CC 9 speed auto engine delivers 170ps, 0-62 times of 7.5 seconds and combined MPG of 64.2. Service intervals on the new c-class diesel saloon are every 12 months or 15,500 miles, whichever is sooner.
So would the C-Class diesel saloon be your leasing option? Or would you go for the BMW 3 series diesel, Jaguar XE diesel or Audi A4 diesel?
