A big thank you to our car rental partners, Enterprise Leigh (nr Manchester), for allowing us to photograph and review the newest addition to their growing fleet – the Nissan Qashqai.
While it is great to work alongside the UK’s foremost car rental organisation, it is important to highlight the distinction between our two businesses, as this often causes confusion amongst customers.
Where we have seen growth, as have car hire organisations, is the considerable demand for SUV and 4×4 type vehicles in the UK market.
Statistically, the petrol SUV is one of the most desirable vehicles to buy/lease. This is quite an interesting shift, when you consider these types of cars were considered pretty undesirable 10 years ago, as we became a nation obsessed with MPG’s and diesel.
However, the new political (and economic) emphasis on demonising diesel cars plus the rising cost of living, has resulted in customers having to carefully consider their next car option. It is very rare that the average family can afford to run multiple vehicles i.e. a small car, an MPV and a sports car. Therefore they need a vehicle which fulfils most of the criteria – the SUV just happens to be that vehicle.
In terms of the car shown here, the Nissan QASHQAI DIESEL HATCHBACK 1.5 dCi N-Connecta 5dr Manual, this is based on the following configuration:
· Storm White Pearl Paint
· Cloth – Anthracite
· 18″ Bi-colour alloy wheels
As standard the car includes privacy glass, rain sensing wipers, emergency braking, hill start assist, Bluetooth, around view monitor, cruise monitor, front/rear parking sensors, lane departure warning, rear view camera, 5” information centre, sat nav system, body coloured externals, electric folding and heated door mirrors, DAB, steering wheel mounted controls, 18” alloys, alarm, immobiliser, intelligent key, ambient interior lighting and a leather steering wheel. With Nissan you can’t add additional factory options. What you need to do is to upgrade the specification of the vehicle for example add the glass roof pack or executive pack or you could jump into the Tekna model.
On the technical side, company car users can note the P11d at £25,955.00 and CO2 at 99g/km. The 1461CC 6 speed manual engine delivers 110ps, combined MPG of 74.3 and 0-62 times of 11.9 seconds. Service intervals are set at every 12 months or 18,000 miles, whichever lands sooner.
So which SUV would you select for your next car leasing option? With great options nationwide including the Seat Ateca, Vauxhall Mokka X, VW Tiguan and Peugeot 3008 and even the Suzuki Vitara customers are really spoiled for choice.
