Firstly, a big thank you to our car rental team, Enterprise (leigh near Manchester), for allowing us to test and review another part of their fleet – the Nissan QASHQAI DIESEL HATCHBACK 1.5 dCi Tekna 5dr Manual. Enterprise are very much different to us, in that they offer short-terms solutions to individuals and businesses i.e. daily/weekly/monthly.

For individuals, car rental can sometimes assist those persons who have bad or poor credit. As contract hire is a credit based financial product, it is sometimes difficult for a customer to procure a long-term solution as their credit simply does not suit the product. As rectifying your credit position can take some time, we appreciate that a car (or van) may be required from time to time. With car rental organisations like Enterprise, this offers a short-term and practical solution as this is done on a “non-status” basis i.e. no credit checks.
For a business, car hire can often assist if you have a new employee and you do not want to commit to a long-term product like contract hire until the employee has completed their probation period of 3 or 6 months.
With contract hire, it is a fixed term contract and so if the employee did not work out, you would need to early terminate the contract to return the vehicle – essentially paying an amount equivalent to half the remaining rentals or more. As such, car hire may prove to be a slightly more practical solution (albeit more expensive).
