We had the chance to test-drive this beauty recently, the ever-popular family SUV which is the Nissan X-TRAIL DIESEL STATION WAGON 1.6 dCi Tekna 5dr [7 Seat] Manual.
This car represents a growing trend of customers wanting a car that fits all requirements. This is a stylish, spacious and well-spec’d vehicle, which provides ample space for children but doesn’t compromise on style. In some of our recent reviews we have been looking at the MPV, so cars like the Ford S-Max, VW Sharan and Seat Alhambra.
These cars do look a tad outdated and “bulky”; the quintessential mum mobile. This has pushed many customers into the SUV / higher driving position type cars like the Hyundai Santa FE and Kia Sorento.
The car shown here, the X-TRAIL 1.6 dCi Tekna 5dr [7 Seat] Manual, is based on the following configuration:
· Metallic – Ebisu Black
· Leather – Graphite
· 19″ 5 spoke alloy wheels
· Metal grain interior trim
The “Tekna” is the elite specification within the Nissan range, sitting above the:
· Visia – hill start assist, 17” alloys, cruise control, 5” HD screen and air conditioning;
· Acenta – adds a panoramic sunroof, front/rear parking sensors, rain sensing wipers, dual air conditioning and automatic dimming rear view mirror;
· N-Vision – adds a smart vison pack (for intelligent braking, traffic signal recognition), touchscreen navigation, start push button, around view monitor and 19” alloy wheels; and
· Tekna – see specification set out below.
For those drivers looking at the diesel engine, you have the choice between a 1.6 and 2.0 options plus the choice of manual/auto and 2wd/4wd. If you are a high-mileage driver, then leasing a diesel engine should not be an issue. However, as we have been exploring in our recent blogs, do consider this carefully if you are a low-mileage customer.
For small mileage requirements and start/stop driving, do consider the petrol alternatives.
For many older-drivers, there has been a historic push towards the diesel engine on the basis of “efficiency”. However, we are making it abundantly clear to our customers that you need to choose the right car based on your driving style.
On the technical side, company car drivers can note the P11d at £32,520.00 and the CO2 of 133g/km for calculation of BiK. On the performance side, the 1598CC engine delivers 130ps which provides a combined MPG of 55.4 and 0-62 times of 10.5 seconds. On the servicing obligations, its every 12 months or every 18,000 miles, whichever lands sooner. As a yearly obligation, do calculate a driver-maintained vs funder-maintained quote.
