A big thank you to one of our leading Land Rover and Range Rover suppliers, Hunters Range Rover of Derby for sending through preview pictures of our customer’s new car –
the RANGE ROVER VELAR DIESEL ESTATE 2.0 D240 R-Dynamic S 5dr Auto.
Currently driving a Mercedes GLE, our local personal customer (from Wigan) wanted to continue to lease a luxury SUV but with stiff competition across the market, making a firm decision was not an easy one. What they did know is that they preferred the new generation of “coupe” looking SUV vehicles i.e. the GLE coupe, the BMW X6 and Jaguar F-Pace as opposed to the more rigid and angular SUV which have been traditionally produced The launch of the new Range Rover Velar just landed at the right time and, as the customer was pursuing a personal contract purchase (PCP), this seemed the right option moving forwards.
While the majority of the deals we supply here at CarLease UK are on a contract hire basis i.e. used and return, some customers do want the opportunity to purchase their car at the end of the contract. Contract hire is NOT a purchase style product.
If you do genuinely want to proceed with a purchase style product, you need to ask our team about a PCP comparison. With a PCP you are using a car for a fixed period of time (2/3/4 years) and, at the end the end of the contract, you will either have to purchase the car by paying the guaranteed future value (balloon) or you return the vehicle.
Contrary to popular belief, a PCP is still a mileage based product, in that the annual mileage of the contract will determine a) the GFV; and b) any excess mileage charges should you return the car at the end of the contract. Do not set the mileage on the contract below what you are actually covering as this might only create issues for you further down the line.
This is not to say a PCP is not a good product; it is a great way to finance a car, particularly on a new product like the Velar where demand for used-vehicles in 2/3/4 years is likely to be high. However, do be practical when setting up your contract.
In terms of the beauty shown here, the Velar D240 R-Dynamic S 5dr Auto, this is based on the following configuration
· Metallic – Santorini black
· Grained leather – Ebony
· Colourway – Ebony
· Ebony morzine headlining
· Shadow aluminium trim finisher
· 19″ 5 Spoke alloy wheels with satin dark grey finish
· Privacy glass
(NB/ Customers can build their own Range Rover Velar to their specification with this handy configuration tool…)
As standard, the car includes electrically adjustable and heated folding mirrors (with approach lamps), meridian audio system, fog lights, 19” alloys, coil suspension, carpet mats, space saver spare wheel, terrain response interior lights, lane departure warning, rain sensing wipers, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi hot spot, 40/20 split folding seats, perimeter alarm, immobiliser, cruise control, rear parking aid, climate control, 10-way adjustable heated and cooled driver seat and grained leather upholstery. For the complete vehicle, consider – privacy glass, the 20” alloys and a colour contrast electric panoramic roof.
On the technical-side, company car/business users can note the P11d at £57,425.00 and CO2 at 154g/km. The 1999CC 8 sped auto engine delivers 240ps, combined MPG of 48.7 and 0-62 times of 6.8 seconds. The service intervals on a diesel Velar are every 24 months or 21,000 miles, whichever lands sooner. With long-life servicing, do consider a driver vs funder-maintained contract.
So would the Range Rover Velar be your luxury leasing option? Or would you go to an SUV from BMW, Mercedes or Jaguar like the ones below?
