Thank you to our car rental partners’, Enterprise (Leigh nr Manchester), for allowing us to review yet another addition to their growing fleet – the Mazda MAZDA3 HATCHBACK 2.0 SE-L Nav 5dr Manual.
For any personal or business requirements for short-term car hire and rental in the Northwest area, do speak to their team there. As contract hire from our team here at CarLease UK is a long-term commitments, 18 – 48 months, this really isn’t suitable if you are looking for daily or weekly solutions. Particularly if you have an employee on a probation period, daily rental can offer a more flexible albeit more expensive solution.
The car shown, the MAZDA3 2.0 SE-L Nav is based on the following configuration:
· Special metallic – Machine grey
· Cloth – Black
· 16″ alloy wheels
Like many ultra-modern cars, this is a petrol vehicle. Very recently you will have seen the controversy surrounding the “diesel” engine, as political pressure seems to suggest that these vehicles will no longer be in mass production.
Quite honestly, this couldn’t be further than the truth as diesel cars still remain the backbone of the UK automotive industry. We have noted no real decline for the demand for the diesel vehicle although customers, quite rightly, are questioning the position.
We are telling customers that vehicles should be suitable for your needs and requirements.
If you are a low-mileage user, covering 8,000 miles and below, you need to consider if your driving style is really suitable for a diesel engine. In particular, if you are on start/stop journeys, you run a risk that the DPF will not become hot enough to remove the soot from a diesel engine. If this does become clogged, then you are going to have to pay for this to be cleared.
Therefore, for low-mileage and urban style driving, the petrol engine if most likely going to offer you a practical solution.
In the Mazda, you have the choice of three specifications:
· The basic SE / SE Nav;
· The mid-range SEL / SEL Nav; and
· The top of the range Sport / Sport Nav.
The car shown, the SE-L, is well-stocked with specification. As standard you get privacy glass, rain sensing wipers, brake assist, emergency stop signal, brake support, Bluetooth, cruise control, hill hold assist, rear parking sensors, 7” touch screen, sat nav, digital, body coloured externals, electrically adjustable door mirrors, 6 speakers, bi-xenon lights, dual exhaust pipes, LED daytime lights, climate control, cloth upholstery, courtesy lights, 16” alloys, heated front seats and lumbar adjustment. Like many manufactures, you cannot add any extra factory order specification – you just need to increase the in specification line to the “Sport”.
The 1998CC 6 speed manual engine, delivers 12ps, 55.4 combined MPG and 0-62 times of 8.9 seconds. For company car drivers, note the P11d of £20,430.00 and CO2 at 119g/km. Service intervals are set at every 12 months or 12,500 miles.
With the annual requirements, do consider the driver-maintained vs funder-maintained options. In the latter, you can choose, at an additional cost, to include all servicing, tyres, maintenances and breakdown recovery for the course of the contract. The only aspect we cannot include in a car leasing arrangement is the insurance.
So would the Mazda 3 get your vote in the mid-range hatchbacks? With the Vauxhall Astra, Ford Focus, Peugeot 308 and Nissan Pulsar, Mazda really do have a big fight on their hands.
Let us know your thoughts on which car you would choose to drive home in!
