A big thank you to our local personal leasing customer, from Westhaughton (Bolton), for coming to visit the team at CarLease UK to collect their new vehicle – the Vauxhall Mokka X Hatchback 1.4T Design Nav 5 Door Auto.
As an internet-based business, we deliver vehicles nationwide, from the tip of Scotland to the southern most parts of the UK like Portsmouth. As a result we don’t always get the chance to meet our customers face to face. That being said, as more customers are made aware of the possibility of contract hire, rather than buying a vehicle, we are seeing more local customers coming to us in order to get like for like comparisons.
The customer raised a couple of key questions with us, which we thought we would review alongside the car shown.
The first, which was due to the fact that the customer was older, was whether there was a maximum age-restriction for leasing a vehicle? There is no limit on age for leasing a vehicle. As this is a credit-based product (coupled with an income/expenditure analysis), age is very much a number.
Before ordering a vehicle, a customer will be asked to complete proposal form for the purpose of carrying out a credit checks with the relevant finance company. So long as the customer can provide personal details relating to their name/age/contact details/bank details/employment history/residential history, this is something which we can proceed with.
In the case of retired persons, as per the customer here, you simply need to state you are retired and provide an accurate income and expenditure.
The second query, was whether contract-hire offered a suitable form of vehicle procurement in comparison to a PCP or HP arrangement. As the customer here benefited from, contract hire can include the cost of all servicing, tyres and breakdown recovery (known as a funder-maintained arrangement). The customer literally fuels and insures the car. After the term (2/3/4 years), the vehicle is returned. For many older customers the buying and a selling of vehicles (coupled with maintenance) can be a time-consuming and difficult task.
With contract-hire, you are fixing your commitment and costs, so you have very little administration during the life of the contract.
At the end of the term, you can either return the vehicle, take a new vehicle or look to extend the contract on the current vehicle.
In many ways, this offers a more practical (and easier) solution for an older-customer.
In terms of the car shown, the Mokka X 1.4T Design Nav 5 Door Auto, the customer elected for the following configuration:
· Boracay Blue Metallic Paint
· Milano cloth – Jet Black
· 18″ Silver Alloy Wheels
As standard on the Design Nav you get 18” alloys, comfort front seats, tinted windows, rain-sensing wipers, brake assist, hill start assist, front/rear parking sensors, navigation, smartphone integration, electric folding/heated door mirrors, automatic lighting control, LED lights, high beam assist, immobiliser and perimeter alarm, 8 way adjustable front seats, climate control and a leather steering. In terms of additional factory options, consider dark tinted windows and a steel spare wheel for the complete vehicle.
On the technical-side, company car drivers can note the 149g/KM of CO2 and P11d of £20,155.00. The 1364CC 6 speed auto engine delivers 140ps, 0-62 times of 10 seconds and has combined MPG of 43.5. Service intervals are set at every 12 months or 20,000 miles, whichever lands sooner.
So would the Mokka X be your SUV/crossover leasing option? Or would you be heading to a Peugeot 3008, Hyundai Tuscon or Kia Sportage or perhaps a Renault Kadjar is more your thing?
Let us know your thoughts!
