Watch out, BMW intend taking the electric market by storm…
Tesla maybe the first name that comes to mind when you think electric car, but the mighty BMW continues to grow into being a really important player.
Nissan, General Motors and of course Tesla all fall into the 100,000 to 300,000 bracket, but so do BMW who are on target to deliver there 200,000th electric car in a twelve month period. This does not include hybrid vehicles like the 330e, just cars which are plugged in to charge.
BMW supplied 1.2 million cars last year, of which over 3% where I, I performance or Mini electric. A near doubling from just one year earlier. This year, BMW will build more plug-in electric cars than Tesla and will launch a car to rival the Tesla 3 at the Frankfurt show in September 2017. Ignore the hype of 250 miles and assume 200 miles.
BMW are doing for electric what they did for diesels
Remember the 50p balancing on a BMW diesel engine? BMW made smelly, noisy diesel engines a thing of the past, it looks like they intend doing the same for electric.
