More and more this 2018 there has been a refusal form many customers to even entertain leasing a diesel car!
It does make us think as to whether diesel cars will continue to be produced in the future?
For many low-mileage users, the choice for a petrol car is a practical one.
Small start/stop journeys are not practical for the nature of a diesel engine and those drivers who have procured the wrong vehicle, have seen issues with their DPF…
Additionally, the political emphasis has been on demonising diesels as they have been seen to be more polluting based on their NO emissions in comparison to petrol models. The end result is that customers, who are not necessarily covering low-mileage are now not happy to receive a diesel vehicle.
You could say that with electric and PHEV technologies being introduced, this should prevent any issues.
However, these technologies are not cheap and with there being no tax benefit to an individual (company car tax/benefit in kind), there is a still a need for diesel options in the high-mileage market.
