HAS THE TESLA 3 GOT A SURPRISE RIVAL..?
The Tesla 3 was insanely marketed nearly a year before its still to be confirmed launch. In the meantime, with Tesla still taking deposits for cars that have no guaranteed delivery date, VW, BMW and especially Nissan are sneaking up behind with really interesting products.
Of special interest is the Nissan Leaf, of which Nissan have already sold a quarter of a million.
The 2018 model is having its details carefully leaked ahead of a September 2017 launch date, with rumours like a 200 mile range and a new design more akin to a pre-launch model from a show, to attract a younger driver.
Nissan intend having the ProPilot Assist on at launch, a step up from the latest cruise controls but not full automation. The system is designed to be on board and programmable with modules as and when legislation allows.
If the new Leaf really has a 200 mile range and is as expected priced at 10% more than the outgoing model, Tesla need to get their Model 3 to the market a lot faster than they ever expected.
