Thanks to our existing business leasing customer based near Leeds for sending through pictures of the their new luxury SUV (Coupe) the Mercedes GLC AMG COUPE GLC 43 4Matic Premium 5dr 9G-Tronic! The customer was previously using a Mini 1.6 Cooper Hatchback and, after a 4 year contract hire, they wanted a spectacular vehicle.
The length of the contract is something we do get asked a lot here at CarLease UK – is it better to have a 2 year or a 4 year agreement? There really is no better or worse option; it is simply a case of presenting the facts to the customer to ensure that they receive a contract which is suitable for their needs and requirements.
If you are looking for a short-term options, such as a 6 or 12 month agreement, you will need to speak to hire companies about their flexi-lease solutions. We cannot offer contracts of this length. If you are someone who does like to change a car regularly, and have limited commitment, then 2 years maybe the way forwards – however do consider that many 2 year agreements costs more per month than a 3 or 4 year agreement. You also need to take into account service schedules, warranty periods and MOTs, as these may all contribute to your decision.
What we do experience, is that many customers get to the end of a 2 year agreement and will ask for an extension on their vehicle. This is not always possible and so you then need to replace that vehicle; in these circumstances a 3 or 4 agreement would have been more practical.
In terms of the car shown, the customer elected for the following configuration:
· Polar White Solid Paint
· Leather – Black with red stitching
· High gloss black with aluminium trim
· 19″ 5 twin spoke bi-colour alloy wheels
The technical ability of this car is amazing. That being said, if you are a business user/company car driver, the P11d at £53,095.00 and CO2 192g/km may need some consideration. The 2996CC 9 speed semi-auto engine offers 367ps which can propel the car to 62mph in 4.9 seconds yet deliver 33.6 combined MPG. The service intervals are mileage based – every 15,500 miles. If you are doing a low mileage/2 or 3 year agreement, you might want to consider a driver-maintained vehicles vs funder-maintained vehicle.
So is the Mercedes GLC the ultimate in luxury SUV options? With the BMW X4 and now the Range Rover Velar, the customer does have some excellent choices. If you are utilising a healthy budget on this car, you need to make sure it is the right one!
