With the launch of the new Ford Torneo, the minibus market seems to have changed from 14 seat and upwards to 9 and 10 seat units. This is a market that has more competition for Ford, as Vauxhall, Renault, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan and Citroen each have minibuses in this market.
Towards the end of the year, most manufacturers are releasing new models and any existing minibus is factory stock rather than factory order. As a result, you can order your school minibus in October and get it before Christmas.
So what to choose and why?
Primarily, any minibus must suit your needs, they may all seem the same but differences in size, weight and engine spec mean that time invested at the beginning is well worth it in the end, making sure that it suits you. In reliability terms it would be inaccurate to cite one manufacturer as better than another but what you are going to need is service, so find out which manufacturer has representation local to you.
Consider who will drive the minibus and how you will look after it. A previous blog has some great info on your licence requirements and one covered a weekly safety check list for you, have a read of those and think about who will carry out the work.
Right now, minibuses are better value than ever, off the shelf top class minibuses are ready to use and will arrive, delivered to your school or club, brand new with new tyres and all the latest safety features.
