With a range that already rivals all manufacturers, Vauxhall have set about refining every aspect of every van in their range. 2013 really have been the year of Ford with their new Transit Custom winning van of the year and the new Transit launch in November. Add to that a new Fiesta van, a Transit Courier and Connect and its clear that competitors had to address safety, efficiency, drive quality and servicing costs to stay in touch with the market leaders, right now their range is made up of :
The Corsavan Ecoflex with a new clean engine and stop/start technology has emissions of just 88g/km. With a lower ride height and aerodynamic alterations made to reduce drag, the Corsavan is a quiet van to drive. The gear ratios are longer than in the standard model and with 90bhp, even the EcoFlex model goes well. It has a half tonne carrying capacity which for a small van is about normal. Vauxhall have worked hard to improve safety and build quality and it shines through with the new Corsavan. Door closures are car-like in quality and fit and finish are excellent. The layout is well sorted out for work use with storage compartments and cup holders a plenty. A spare 12v output can be used to charge your laptop on the go
The Combo Ecoflex also has stop start on board. It uses the same diesel engine as the Corsavan, being heavier and not quite as aerodynamic, the Combo still achieves 60 mpg and has emissions of less than 125 g/km. With a payload of 750kg, the Combo Ecoflex has the same load capacity as its bigger brothers but is amazingly economical.
The Vivaro Ecoflex, part of a range that has just delivered its 900,000th derivative to one its larger users, the AA. The EcoFlex won a recent test with its rivals and achieved over 65 mpg over a run of 350 miles. During the run, emissions were calculated as 175g/km. The Eco model is available up to 3500kg and even this one achieves over 37 mpg.
The Movano, the big brother of the Vauxhall range. This year’s model has been face lifted and with aerodynamic tweaks and the new clean engine, the EcoFlex model has an average consumption of better than 37 mpg. Available in FWD or RWD format its available as a van, a double cab van, a tipper or drop side, a luton van and minibus.
