VW build a great product and unlike many other manufacturers, all of that transfers to their vans rather than farming off the manufacture to another company or country
The Caddy, their small van, has always sold well and at below £180 per month it’s not really surprising. The Caddy, especially in this latest version, the Bluemotion, is well designed and drives just like a car. The cab has loads of clever storage and is generally well organised. The dashboard is laid out with typical VW clarity and getting comfortable is really easy, thanks to the height adjustable seat and multi-adjustable steering wheel
We have run a Bluemotion Golf at Carlease UK for three years now and know how strong but frugal this engine is. At just over 100 bhp, it always surprises drivers by its performance . To me, it is a mistake that VW has used a 5 speed gearbox, when every other Bluemotion vehicle uses the six speed, sixth is not a problem for this engine
In addition to the eco engine, the Bluemotion has stop/start, reworked aerodynamics and has low rolling resistance tyres. In our Golf, we regularly better 70 mpg and expect the van to be capable of similar but can still deliver a Euro pallet.
