The incredibly popular Volvo XC60 has been massively updated and will be released this year. The model year 17’ XC60 is very much a reduced version of the XC90, which is one of the leading premium SUVs in the UK market.
The new model is more angular and muscular, rather than the “bubble” shape of the previous model.
The car is actually only a little bit shorter/narrower than its bigger brother and, with a 505 litre boot space, offers a good amount of storage which is beaten only by the Jaguar F Pace.
The big improvement to the new XC60 is to the interior and quality, as the car moves to the premium/prestige range of the market.
In terms of the car shown here, the Volvo XC60 DIESEL ESTATE D5 [220] R DESIGN Lux Nav 5dr AWD Geartronic, the configuration is based on:
· Leather faced – Off black
· 18″ Ixion III matt black diamond cut alloy wheels
· Aluminium trim
The XC60 has consistently been one of the more popular options in market; with a reputation for safety and quality, the car has been very popular with many of our older-drivers.
Part of the success of the car is down to the fact that the crossover and SUV has become the most popular forms of vehicle in our new car market.
As customers need vehicles which meet all needs/requirements, by which we mean style, space, aesthetics, specification, automatic transmission, higher driving position etc, this type of car has soon grown. Part of the issue is that many families cannot afford to run a fleet of vehicles, so a car essentially has to meet all their requirements.
We also find that many of our older-generation customers feel safer with the higher driving position and comfort of these vehicles.
That being said, it is very much a competitive market!
The car pictured, the R Design Lux Nav, is one of the elite models within the range. As standard you get auto dimming rear view mirror, sensus high performance sound system, rear park assist, cruise control, rain sensing wipers, hill start assist and descent control, floor mats, keyless drive, powered tailgate, navigation, rear spoiler, whiplash protection system, anti-theft alarm, sports seats, footwell and interior lights, city safety and leather upholstery. In terms of additional factory options – look for a car which has front park assist, electric tilt/panoramic roof and the winter pack for the complete experience.
On the technical-side, the company car driver can note the P11d of £42,065.00 and CO2 of 149g/km – this is not going to be friendly for your benefit in kind. The 2400CC 6 speed semi auto engine delivers 220ps, 0-62 times of 8.2 seconds and combined MPG of 49.6. With service intervals set at every 12 months or 18,000 miles, you may want to consider a funder-maintained agreement, to ensure to cost of all servicing, maintenance and tyres are included for a fixed price per month.
So will the new Volvo XC60 leasing option be for you? Or will this be unable to compete with the Audi Q5, Jaguar F-Pace and the new Range Rover Velar.
